Welcome to my new blog. I will be blogging about the forthcoming college football season. Each week, I will rate my top 25 and try to give a brief description of why I have put each team where I have. In addition, I will also be just rambling on various things in the college football world. Sit back, and enjoy the ride!
With that, lets get to it!
Hack-Man's Pre-Season Top 25
1. Alabama - I have to give them the benefit of the doubt. They're the defending champs. Lets see how they handle the opener against Michigan.
2. USC - The Trojans should have the best offense in the nation with 4th year senior starter Matt Barkley at the helm. Injuries could haunt them, as they are not real deep due top the scholarship limitations.
3. LSU - Anyone say Honey Badger? Frankly, I think Matthieu is overrated and losing him will not be that big of deal. The big question is, can LSU get anything out of the passing game?
4. Oregon - Because of the system, I'm putting them up here. Chip Kelly will have his boys ready to play. The real question will be is can they get good decision making out of the redshirt freshman QB, Marcus Mariota?
5. Oklahoma - This team is going to live and die by Landry Jones. If he can be the Heisman contender many think he should be, the Sooners will be tough.
6. Georgia - I think this is Mark Richt's make or break year. He's got a great QB, Aaron Murray, running the show.
7. Michigan - Returning 4th year starting QB Denard Robinson is looking to put himself as a Heisman Candidate. The Wolverines have a tough opening game in Dallas against Bama.
8. Florida State - Can the Seminoles return to their past glory?
9. South Carolina - The "other" USC looks to battle for the SEC East
crown. They'll have a showdown against the other contender, Georgia,
at home on October 6th.
10. Arkansas - Returning a fairly solid team that looked very good at times last year.
Will they come together under new Head Coach John L. Smith?
11. Wisconsin - Montee Ball...enough said. Can they make a go at Michigan for the Big 10 title?
12. West Virginia -
13. Michigan State -
14. Clemson -
15. Virginia Tech -
16. Ohio State - These guys are just lucky to not be on probation.
17. Oklahoma State -
18. Texas - Mack Brown better find a consistent QB, or the 'horns could drop right out of the Top 25.
19. Nebraska -
20. TCU -
21. Stanford - The Tree look to replace a lot of talent on
offense, but they were as deep as anyone last year. But...replacing
Andrew Luck ain't gonna be easy.
22. Florida -
23. Boise State - Replacing Kellen Moore...impossible. I don't see that streak of 11 win seasons being repeated this year.
24. Kansas State -
25. Auburn -Can the War Eagles return to power?
That's it for today. Maybe tonight, I'll preview a few week 1 matchups.
